Virgin Coconut Oil

Coconut oil comes from the coconuts on coconut palm trees (Cocos nucifera). There are two main types of coconut oil: copra oil and virgin coconut oil. Although they have similar fatty acid content, virgin coconut oil contains higher amounts of nutrients such as Vitamin E and bioactive compounds such as polyphenols (plant materials that have antioxidant properties).

Cold-pressed oil, well-suited for skincare, sensitive and dry skin. It provides intensive moisture and nourishes the skin, leaving it wonderfully soft.

Raw Shea Butter

Shea butter is a natural vegetable fat that comes from processing nuts from the shea tree. In addition to being suitable for cooking, it may be beneficial for face and body care, and dry and sensitive skin. With its moisturizing, antioxidant properties and anti-inflammatory properties, shea butter may help reduce dry scalp and scalp irritation.

Tested on people with mild-to-moderate eczema it has been found that shea butter may help alleviate the signs and symptoms of eczema.

Please note that shea oil may be more beneficial for hair than shea butter.

*Shea butter does not appear to trigger nut allergies.

Vitamin E

Vitamin E is an important vitamin  that works as antioxidant. It protects the skin from various deleterious effects due to solar radiation by neutralizing harmful molecules called free radicals.

It is an important ingredient in many cosmetic products. Although many cosmeceuticals contain vitamins C and E, very few are effective in topical application because the stability is compromised as soon as the product is opened and exposed to air and light. However, when a stable formulation delivers a high concentration of no esterified, optimal isomer of the antioxidant, vitamins C and E inhibit the acute UV damage.

Vitamin E is one of the treatment modalities for yellow nail syndrome.

Please note that some of the richest dietary sources of vitamin E are nuts and seeds.

*Vitamin E can potentially interact with certain medications.

Coenzyme Q10

Coenzyme Q10 is one of the most fundamental antioxidants. When we’re younger, we’re able to produce as much CoQ10 as we need for energy. As we got older, ageing and stress slow down the CoQ10 creation process, and our supplies diminish.

Antioxidants are basically shields you can apply to your skin to combat all the things that contribute to aging skin such as UV radiation, Infrared radiation, and ozone pollution.

The potent antioxidant function of CoQ10 helps it to protect the skin at the molecular level from the damaging effects of the sun and from damage by free radicals. This ingredient helps your body produce collagen and elastin, which can reduce the appearance of fine lines.

CoQ10 is well-tolerated by most people and can be applied regularly without issue

*If you have a history of vitiligo, approach topical CoQ10 products with caution

Less is more: for the ingredients as well as the packaging.
We rely on manufacturers of containers suitable to be reused and recyclable.

There is a lot to say to consumers about new packaging compounds. Firstly, we are moving away from petroleum, microplastics, ocean waste and all the rest of it, and secondly, the technological, as well as natural aspect, is a captivating storyline. To ensure a smooth end of life, smart solutions can be applied to packaging for usage and recycling instructions. With the new regulations coming into force, it will be hard to print everything on the pack, so packaging will need to become smarter with QR codes or NFC chips.

We are working closely to seal up partnerships with companies which are reducing the use of plastic. As far as skincare jars are concerned, there are jars from wood resin, and virgin fibres that provides a valuable input that raises the quality of the recycled pulp, and the products produced from it. Indeed, wood and paper solutions are biodegradable in the end – if not decorated heavily – so they are a great avenue to explore for an eco-friendly approach but remember that obvious solutions are not necessarily greener or less CO2 intensive.  Our formula is based on offering a subscription opportunity to our tribers, where they receive a refill regularly. The refill revolution is underway, and with the introduction of new regulations banning single-use plastics, chances are that we’ll see a lot of new initiatives in the near future. Consumers might take time to pick up this new habit, but we’re here for you!

Origin

The term “organic” was officially defined in the U.S. in 2002 following the Organic Foods Production Act of 1990 (OFPA). Created by the U.S. National Organic Standards Board (NOSB), OFPA establishes standards, develops definitions and provides technical recommendations to the National Organic Program (NOP). This is a federal regulatory program within the Agricultural Marketing Service (AMS) of USDA.

Regulation

The FDA has not provided an official definition or standards for organic ingredients. However, Poultry, meat and eggs are regulated by the Food Safety Inspection Service of USDA (FSIS).4 The FDA indicated in press releases that “natural” means that nothing artificial or synthetic, including all color additives, regardless of source has been included in, or added to the food.
